World Mental Health Day 2022 - Time Out Sessions
World Mental Health Day 2022 occurs annually on 10 October. This year's theme, “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”, amplifies the importance of efforts from people all around the world focused on supporting those experiencing mental health issues.
The demands of being an active contributor to society can bring on a huge amount of stress. Let's face it, very few of us have a good day EVERY day. Day after day spent at work, looking after our families, and being there to support others in our community can leave us feeling exhausted and burnt out.
We often feel like we don't have the time to check in with ourselves after attending to everyone else's needs, however, it is worth making the time and of vital importance to ensure that we can keep going.
Make this World Mental Health Day a reminder to grab a time-out session with your favourite person or on your own, and focus on improving your mental well-being by:
1. Connecting with other people
2. Being physically active
3. Learning a new skill
4. Paying attention to the present moment
In support of World Mental Health Day, we encourage anyone struggling to cope as a result of a mental health issue to contact the South African Depression & Anxiety Group on 0800 12 13 14. SADAG is Africa’s largest mental health support and advocacy group and is completely toll free.
